Frequently Asked Questions

Please click here for enforcement related FAQs as they pertain to the Snow Route Parking Ban. For all other FAQs, please see the City of Calgary's Snow Ban FAQs.

Effective October 15, 2011, parking is temporarily restricted on designated Snow Routes for up to 72 hours following the declaration of a snow event by The City of Calgary. When a Snow Route parking ban is in effect, citizens will be asked to remove their vehicles from the affected roads immediately to facilitate plowing.

The Calgary Parking Authority is responsible for enforcing the snow route parking ban. Vehicles left in a parking restricted area will be subject to enforcement measures up to and including a parking tag and tow.

CPA Parking Safety and Compliance officers systematically make their way through each community as snow removal progresses. We appreciate your patience as the Calgary Parking Authority dedicates every available officer to snow route enforcement during snow route parking bans.

The snow route parking ban falls under the Calgary Traffic Bylaw 26M96, Section 37.1 (6) Parking on Snow Control Route during Snow Event. The fine for this offence is $120. If the ticket is paid within 10 days, the cost is $80. If it's paid within 30 days the cost is $90.
